Why God may not go on your journey - Exodus 33:3

Exodus 33 1 The Lord said to Moses, “Lead these people you brought from Egypt to the land I promised Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; for I said, ‘I will give this land to your descendants.’ 2 I will send an Angel before you to drive out the Canaanites, Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites. 3 It is a land ‘flowing with milk and honey’; but I will not travel among you, for you are a stubborn, unruly people, and I would be tempted to destroy you along the way.” Even the chosen go astray.   God’s chosen people decided that they had had enough. They were tired of the desert experience; they were tired of doing as God commanded, they were tired of waiting for the land of milk and honey so they decided to do life on their own.   These Scriptures are so relevant for our times today. God sets rules. We break them: ·         We say it’s fine for two men or two women to be married ·      ...

Open the door.

Philippians 2:13 (TLB) -  For God is at work within you, helping you want to obey him, and then helping you do what he wants. There was an air of expectancy when I stepped through sacred doors recently.  What is God going to do today?  The thought had briefly crossed my mind earlier in the day. One more door, open one more door. I did.  I  wasn't  disappointed.

The 3 best days of my life - so far. Based on Acts 17:27

Image
October 19, 2013 Acts 17:27 - Living Bible (TLB) “His purpose in all of this is that they should seek after God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him—though he is not far from any one of us. Since I read a wonderful  post  on Maria Shriver’s blog, this post has been swirling in my brain. While cleaning treasures from my closet this morning, I found one of my many journals.  At that time, I had experienced the second happiest day of my life. Before I write about those days, I must tell you what I know for sure now. May 2, 2006  is the best day of my life. Period. There will be no other better day while I am living on Earth because on that day,  I saw the hand of God  and my life changed forever.  It was an unexpected supernatural occurrence. God wanted to get my attention.  He did.  Life has never been more exciting, joyful, painful and meaningful. I can blog about the milestones of my life, but there ...

What is holding you in captivity? Take off the chains and go Read John 8:32

Image
John 8:32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. These are my notes based on a sermon by Dr. Charles Stanley. You can find it here: Real Freedom, Oct. 13, 2013.   Causes of captivity:  EVIL HABITS False beliefs, lying, deception, sexual immorality, Drunkenness, drugs, smoking, laziness, profanity EMOTIONS Fear, false guilt, jealousy, worry and anxiety, prejudice, feeling you can never please God, bitterness, unforgiveness, insecurity. BONDAGE affects our personal testimony and hinders spiritual growth. TRUTH that sets us free:   Freedom comes when we know the heart of God through a relationship. And, when we allow The Lord to reveal junk and hidden sin  and then allow Him to remove it. What pride is holding you back? You can choose to have the freedom God wants for you.  If you don't know there's stuff/sin keeping you down or if you continue to not deal with it,   you will...

When it hurts to care - Psalm 23:4

Psalm 23:4 Even when walking through the dark valley of death I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me, guarding, guiding all the way. “The power of the saint lies in the coming down and in the living that is done in the valley." - Oswald Chambers  Life lived on the mountaintop is the most beautiful experience especially when you have a relationship with God. But leaving that mountaintop to live the everydayness of life and especially in the everydayness of the ministry that God has planned for us isn’t glamorous. I spent years running from God because it hurt to care. I still want to do that even when I know that I am called to care for others through their valley experiences. Today, for the first time ever, I cried after I left a hospital room. My heart was broken for a patient and the family. Thankfully, I had a chance to share my tears and benefit from the wise counsel of one of our priests. His advice: Cry. You talk to God and cry. I shudder ...

Trusting God through a health crisis

Image
It's been a year since I broke my ankle .    I've  been thinking about how God saw me through. I gained spiritual maturity and closeness to God.  If you fear for your health, trust God.  The Bible gives examples of God giving "prescription" for healing.  He uses doctors and others in miraculous ways.  Be encouraged. I share my notes based on Dr. David Jeremiah's sermon, “ Fearing for your health .” Isaiah 38:21 For Isaiah had told Hezekiah’s servants, “Make an ointment of figs and spread it over the boil, and he will get well again.” God gave a prescription for Hezekiah's illness. God uses medications / people to help us. 1.    Control  your mind – 2 Timothy 1:7 The Voice You see, God did not give us a cowardly spirit but a powerful, loving, and disciplined spirit. Proverbs 18:14   The human spirit   can endure a long illness, but who can survive a crushe...

How to walk wisely: Joshua 1:8

Image
My notes from Dr. Stanley's sermon Find it  here:   http://www.intouch.org/broadcast/today-on-radio Sermon dated Aug. 7, 2013:  How to walk wisely Take notes! 1. You must make the decision to walk wisely. 2. Stay in the word--meditate on the Bible. Ask questions. Joshua 1:8 Let the words from the book of the law be always on your lips. Meditate on them day and night so that you may be careful to live by all that is written in it. If you do, as you make your way through this world, you will prosper and always find success.  --God will give you understanding, if you ask for it. 3. Be sensitive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. We learn by failure and mistakes. 4. Believe that God is all wise. 5. Trust God. Obey and leave all the consequences to him. 6. Have courage to do what God says when you don't understand. Better to fail in front of others and not in front of God.  Be courageous. Watch God build your c...
