God loves all of us and that includes your pet

Psalm 36:5-7
5 Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.
6 Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains,
your justice like the ocean depths.
You care for people and animals alike, O Lord.
7 How precious is your unfailing love, O God!
All humanity finds shelter
in the shadow of your wings.
Last night a longtime friend went to bed with a sad heart. His family’s beloved pet dog died. Death catches us unexpectedly at times and it makes us consider the things that are really important in our lives. This morning I woke up thinking about that sweet little dog and it brought to mind my own loss.

Almost 10 years ago, a big white cat who owned my heart for 15 years died. My heart was sad for many years after Jack’s physical presence left my life.
As I sit here this morning thinking about how animals make a difference in our lives, it’s hard not to consider the tie that binds us all. That tie is powerful. That tie is love. O how God loves us all! O how God created us to love each other and to love him. Love is a choice we get to make! When you think of the depth and scope of God’s love, well, it’s hard to grasp! Whether you know God or not - you have the capacity to love and be loved. But just think how powerful it is to know God and to personally know His love for you?
I’m left breathless knowing that love ties me to everyone alive – and that includes animals. Psalm 36:6 assures us that God cares for the very animals he created. Hug those you love today. Hug your pet and be thankful for the love animals give us so freely. Pray for those suffering losses. Be thankful that God gives you the capacity to over flow with love and to share it with those who need you the most.

If you need to know you are loved, talk to God. No one loves you more than the One who created you.
