Prepared to face your commanding officer? - 2 Timothy 2:3-4; Ephesians 6:11, 13

2 Timothy 2:3-4 3 Share in the troubles we have like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4 A soldier wants to please the enlisting officer, so no one serving in the army wastes time with everyday matters.
Ephesians 6:11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.

A soldier is one who understands a battle plan and is armed with protective and defensive gear. Life and death is in the power of a soldier who must be focused and prepared for battle. In the same way, followers of Christ have a responsibility to focus on his marching orders.

When God calls us, his plan should take priority in our lives. When we focus on his marching orders, our spirit is connected closely to him and this helps us deal with spiritual warfare. Take off your blinders and know that we face an enemy that is unseen but very real. Unless you know God intimately, his plan for your life and can arm yourself with Scripture, you will not be an effective soldier.

Focus on God’s battle plan by guarding your heart from evil, standing firmly in peace, staying faithful, controlling thoughts and discerning good from evil.

Only a soldier who wears God’s armor can stay standing.
