My Divine Note #11-02 – Take time to be pleased

Genesis 1:9-10; 1:11-12; 1:18 ... And God was pleased with what he had done (TLB)

This is the year to celebrate the successes we achieve in the areas that we have God-given gifts and abilities. As I was reading through the story of Creation, I was fascinated that Scripture says that God saw that his work was good, and another translation says that God was pleased with what he had done.

Since it’s a new year – a new start, why don’t we appreciate ourselves for doing the things that God has asked of us? Too many of us don’t recognize and celebrate those successes either because we want to be humble before God and others or because we don’t see ourselves as God sees us. He created us and he is pleased with us.

Take time to appreciate the things you do for God. Stop and be pleased when you are obedient, when you step out of your comfort zone, when you kick that habit and when you go the extra mile because you care what God thinks. Be pleased and don’t hesitate to give God praise for all the things he has done for and through you.

Good Friday, April 22, 2011 2 Corinthians 4:1 We don't become discouraged, since God has given us this ministry through his mercy. It doesn’t matter how close you are to God, at some point you may feel discouraged and elect to take a break. Take a short break, pull yourself together and make sure you stay connected to God because you are needed for the purposes for which He made you. That has become quite clear in my journey. Real dependence on God begins when you lay your sins and burdens at the foot of the cross. Once you reveal your true heart to God, he opens doors that you can walk through even while storms are raging in your own world. He knows that you are not perfect, but he knows why you were created and where/when he needs you. God works through us to accomplish his purposes. Matthew 9:13   Go and learn what this means, ‘I want mercy and not sacrifice.’ (Hosea 6:6)   I have not come to get those who think they are right with God to follow me. I have come to get sinners to follow me.” Good sermons have a way of piercing hearts.  Andy Stanley’s   Follow, Pt.1 Jesus Says   sermon made me examine my heart in a big way. I suggest that you listen to the podcast because the message is good for nonbelievers, but especially amazing for those of us who love the Lord.
